Why You Should Visit New Brighton for the Best Views of Liverpool
For many, the idea of heading to Liverpool is something that they’ve wanted to do for a long time.
The city is known for its friendliness, its vibrant culture and, of course, its two football teams. People who visit Liverpool often fall in love with it and want to come back time and time again.
One of the things that you might not realise is that you can actually get the best possible view of Liverpool from just over the water, with New Brighton sitting almost directly opposite the likes of the Albert Docks, the Liver Building and the Port of Liverpool Authority.
When you’re there, though, it’s about so much more than just what you can see on the other side of the water.
The View is Amazing
The most important thing to tell you about New Brighton is that the view from there over to Liverpool is genuinely spectacular. Provided you are there on a clear day, you’ll be able to see the waterfront in an amazing way. Because of the proximity of the Wirral to the city of Liverpool, it almost feels as though you can reach out and touch the buildings that are famous around the world.
There are two Liver birds that sit atop of the Liver Buildings, with the old saying being that one is looking out to see to ensure the safe return of the sailors and the other is looking into Liverpool itself in order to ensure that the pubs are still open when they get back.

You can see the Liver Building and the birds clearly from the Wirral, as well as the other buildings that make up the city’s famous waterfront. Whether you want to look at the M&S Bank Arena or the Port of Liverpool Authority, you’ll be able to see them perfectly from the New Brighton front.
It is a great place to go on a normal day, but if there’s something happening in Liverpool then it is even better. When big ships like the Queen Mary II come into Liverpool, for example, a view from New Brighton allows you to see not only the ship but also the majestic city behind it, allowing for some breath-taking photos to be taken.
There’s Plenty to do There Too
For some people, it won’t take long before the view itself becomes a little bit boring. The likes of teenagers and younger kids are not going to have to patience to appreciate quite what they’re looking at. Even staunch Liverpool supporters will not be impressed at being able to see the Main Stand at Anfield from the New Brighton side of the water when they’d rather go over and see it up close and personal.
The good news is that New Brighton has a lot to offer in the way of things to do if the view itself isn’t good enough. For starters, there is a cinema nearby, showing all of the latest releases with popcorn and drinks on offer.
If you’re not the sort of person that likes to go to the cinema, hating the fact that people talk to each other or get their phones out whilst the film is on instead of just sitting there and enjoying what they’re watching, then maybe the theatre is more to your taste.
The Floral Pavilion has any number of excellent shows available for theatregoers to watch and enjoy, including some that are aimed specifically at children. There are loads of decent restaurants around New Brighton, both in the form of chain ones and independent offerings. Should it take your fancy then there is an excellent miniature golf course to get stuck into.
An Area Re-Born
New Brighton has undergone significant regeneration in recent years. There was a time when it boasted a tower similar to that in Blackpool, with The Beatles amongst several well-known bands that played at the ballroom there. The tower was neglected during the First World War and a decision was taken to dismantle it in 1919, the metal from it used for scrap.
New Brighton itself was something of a washed-up seaside town, with everything in the area looking a bit tired. Having once been one of the chief holiday destinations for people in the local area, it turned into somewhere that few people wanted to go except to play the arcades.
@livingliverpooltour One for the Wirral ‘eads. Things changed in 2011, however, when Marine Point opened and New Brighton became a genuine visitor’s attraction for the Wirral. It came three years after the Floral Pavilion was rebuilt, seeing the area appear to be genuinely re-born.
Of course, that regeneration all happened in the main part of New Brighton, where most visitors would tend to go as they head to the front to have a look at Liverpool over the water. There are still plenty of areas slightly off the beaten track that remain rundown and have locals campaigning to get them fixed up. That means that New Brighton is likely to be even more appealing in the years to come.
The Perfect Summer Spot
When people could only really go on holidays in England, New Brighton was a very popular place to head to for those living not too far away. There was a lido, which there are plans to bring back, as well as the tower similar to that of Blackpool that appealed to people.
Nowadays, many of the things that appealed to those in the 19th and early 20th century still exist. Fort Perch Rock is an interesting place to wander around, whilst the beach offers a lovely expanse of clean sand that you can walk along whilst looking over to Liverpool on the other side of the River Mersey. You can also get some lovely photos with New Brighton Lighthouse.

If the sun is out and it’s a little too hot, you can usually find some shade in Vale Park, which often offers some excellent floral displays. If you want, you can have a walk around the lake, stopping for an ice cream or a coffee. There is a bowling alley should the weather take a turn for the worse, plus all of the aforementioned restaurants if you get hungry.
The arcade, boasting countless different games and other distractions, is still in existence, meaning that New Brighton has pretty much everything that you could wish to experience on an English summer’s afternoon out with the family or some friends.
