Which other players could Liverpool sign this summer

With Liverpool having been crowned champions of England once again, they’ll be sure to want to strengthen their squad once again to ensure they remain favourites next season. With Trent Alexander-Arnold leaving for Real Madrid and Salah essentially single handedly dragging them to the title, it’s no surprise to see Liverpool linked with a number of players this summer.
With the premier league odds showing Manchester City and Arsenal to really push Liverpool again this year, it’s important that they get their recruitment spot on and ensure they bring in the right players to take them to another level. With the arrival of Jeremie Fringpong already sealed to replace Trent, there’s still a number of different positions they’ll need to look to strengthen.
In this article we’ll take a look at some of the signings Liverpool could make to ensure they are champions again come the end of next season.
Left Back – Kerkez
With Roberton not getting any younger and Tsimikas ultimately not up to the level required, it was inevitable that Liverpool were going to look at signing a new left back this year. Kerkez has been heavily linked in recent weeks and it’s easy to see why. A young quick attacking fullback brings back memories of Roberton in his early days at Liverpool.
Still only 22, he lit up the premier league last year for Bournemouth and looks like he’s ready to take that next step in his career, with Liverpool being the perfect opportunity to thrive. With him and Frimpong on either side, the Liverpool flanks will be a real threat next year.
Centre Back – Guehi
With Van Dijk now 34 next summer and Joe Gomez unable to complete a full season without getting injured, Liverpool need to recruit an additional Centre Half to provide cover for the defence. With Konate also having his injury worries since joining, a perfect signing would be Crystal Palace’s Mark Guehi.
The English defender has a vast amount of premier league experience and would challenge Joe Gomez and Konate for that spot next to Van Dijk, whilst also allowing them to then rotate to give further rest, hopefully reducing the risk of injury to any of the defenders. Whilst he would likely come with a hefty price tag, it’s one that is definitely worth paying.
Striker – gyokeres
It’s no doubt that Salah has dragged Liverpool through this season at times, and sometimes it seems like he’s the only one in attack able to put it in the back of the net. With Nunez simply not living up to his potential and looking likely to leave, and with Jota again injury prone and appears to have lost that yard of pace, gyokeres would be the perfect man to take the load off Salah.

Currently tearing up the Portuguese league, his mix of pace and power would seemingly fit in perfectly in this fast tempo Liverpool side. With support from Salah, either Diaz or Gakpo, along with someone who we’ll discuss later, he’d get chances put on a plate for him and could score a silly number of goals if given the opportunity.
Attacking Midfielder – Wirtz
Just like Kerkez, Wirtz has been heavily linked with Liverpool recently and seems likely to be joining this summer. If Liverpool were able to get Wirtz in along with these other signings, it would be hard to bet against anyone other than Liverpool to lift the title again next May. The German wonderkid has excelled in Germany and is one of the most sought after players in the world, so signing him would be a real statement to the rest of the league.
He’d offer that bit of extra creativity and flair that they may be missing, and especially with Alexander-Arnold leaving, they do need to replace the creativity and someone with the ability to unlock a low sitting defence.
With Wirtz sitting just behind an attack front three of Diaz Salah and gyokeres, it’s hard to not see them scoring a ridiculous amount of goals next season and they’d seemingly be very tough to beat. Wirtz won’t come cheap though with reports saying a potential fee of around £130 million to get him out of Germany, however if you want the best players you need to put the money in.
With Liverpool being crowned champions once again for the second time in five years, this is the perfect time to push on now and take home the trophy again next year. However with Manchester City having such a poor season, they’ll likely completely reset the squad and be back to the winning machine best.
If Liverpool are to come out on top again, they’ll need to get these signings right, and these would be perfect to help them on their way.
