WBA World Featherweight Title: Nick Ball vs TJ Doheny – M&S Bank Arena – 15th March

Who fancies watching a home grown talent defend his world boxing championship?

Scouser, Nick Ball, will defend his WBA world featherweight title against former champion TJ Doheny at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool on Saturday, 15th of March. The event has been dubbed, ‘Hard Days Night’, and it certainly will be for one of the fighters.

The card also features British and Commonwealth bantamweight champion Andrew Cain facing European champion Charlie Edwards.

Another Liverpool lad, Brad Strand will battle Ionut Baluta for the vacant WBO European super bantamweight title, while knockout artist Jack Turner takes a major step up in competition against a TBC opponent.

If you have any doubts about the sort of night this is going to be, Hall of Fame promoter Frank Warren called the card “combustible”, going on to say:

“With so much at stake, every championship fight promises to be a cracker. We’re committed to making Liverpool a premier boxing destination.”

The undercard includes Liverpool’s Lucas Biswana in his second pro fight, Stoke debutant Lewis Lawton, and heavyweight prospect Boma Brown in his sixth bout.

So loads of interesting fights to come before the big one.

Nick Ball has already successfully defended his title once, against Ronny Rios last October, but can the 27 year old do it again? He’s undefeated so far, but TJ Doheny is a much more experienced fighter, albeit much older too at 38. However, he is coming off the back of his 5th career defeat, after being beaten by Naoya Inoue last September.

Tickets and Prices

Ball vs Doheny WBA Title

You could spend an awful lot on this spectacle if you wanted to, but the least you will have to part with to get in is £47.95.

Ticket prices increase from there with the seats edging closer to the ring the more you pay. The different price points are as follows:

  • £47.95
  • £59.25
  • £89.00
  • £117.75
  • £175.25

These prices include fees, you will be pleased to hear. Although a £2.95 transaction fee will be added to each order (not each ticket).

It’s not cheap, but it’s going to be a very busy night with six fights on the card, and the arena atmosphere will be electric. If you have cash to burn you can even spend £275.25 on hospitality tickets that will get you into a box with all of the extra trimmings that go with it.

For my money though, you want to be down as close to the ring as you can afford.
