Under the Mersey Moon: Epstein Theatre – 11th to 13th November 2026

A Liverpool musician heads to Nashville to chase his dreams. Not the sort of story you hear every day, but that’s the journey at the heart of Under the Mersey Moon, which is making its Liverpool debut at the Epstein Theatre from the 11th to the 13th of November.

The musical follows Danny Rogers, a struggling country musician who takes inspiration from his poorly grandfather and sets off for America, hoping someone will finally discover his talent. Of course, things don’t quite work out as simply as that or this wouldn’t be much of a story, would it? His trip becomes about much more than being discovered, turning into a story about love, family, and the pull of home.

There’s plenty of local talent involved too. Merseyside songwriters Jimmy Rae and Pete Davies have written the show, with 13 original songs performed by a live band and a cast of 12. Samuel Heller plays Danny, while local radio favourite Billy Butler appears alongside his wife Lesley. A familiar voice for plenty of people in the audience.

The show first played at the Floral Pavilion’s Blue Lounge in 2025 before moving to the main theatre in 2026. Packed houses and standing ovations followed, so it has already had a pretty good reception on the other side of the water. Now Liverpool audiences get their turn, so go along and see what you think.

Tickets and Prices

There are four performances across the three days, including a Thursday matinee if you fancy an afternoon at the theatre instead of the evening:

  • Wednesday 11th November – 7.30pm
  • Thursday 12th November – 2pm and 7.30pm
  • Friday 13th November – 7.30pm

Standard tickets cost £28, with restricted-view seats available for £26. Those prices include the £1 ticket commission, but there is a further £2 fee per order, so remember to factor that in when booking.

If you like country music and a story with a strong Liverpool connection, this should definitely be one for your diary. It’s good to support local talent too.
