The Scouse Red Riding Hood, Royal Court Theatre: 8th November to 18th January

The Royal Court has made quite a name for itself over the years with its Christmas show, and this year promises to be another winner.
For 2024’s festivities, they are producing the Scouse Red Riding Hood. Packed full of naughty jokes, live music, singing and silliness, this scouse themed take on Red Riding Hood will have you laughing your head off.
It’s quite a long run, so you have plenty of time to get your tickets: the first performance takes place on November 8th, and the show runs until January 18th.
I should say from the off that this is a show for adults – it’s not your traditional Christmas panto, not by a long stretch! Under 12s are not allowed but anyone over that age can attend with an adult, although the age guidance is 16+.
Here’s an idea of the kind of content you should expect:
Christmas is coming and nan is laid up as her sciatica is giving her gyp. It’s down to Little Red and her mate Big Blue to get out to her cottage in Spinney Woods with a proper scran. She wants some of that CBD rubbing oil you get from the place in St John’s that does the Spanish cleaning products too.
There are strange creatures that lurk in Spinney Woods but they meet a lad with a big chopper who makes them feel safe. They’d better watch out for the beasties and bugs. The snakes and scorpions. The woollybacks and… wolves!
Shut up and take my money!
Seriously though, this is always a sell out so if you leave it too late you may well not be able to get a ticket. My advice? Go early in the run. Not only will you guarantee yourself a ticket, but you’ll see the show at it’s freshest while the performers are still on their toes.
Tickets, Cast and Creative

BSL performances will take place on the 26 November & Tuesday 7 January, while the Audio Described performance is on Thursday 28 November.

- Cast – Emma-Grace Arends, Chantel Cole, Lindzi Germain, Adam McCoy, Lydia Rosa Morales Scully, Andrew Schofield, Keddy Sutton, Liam Tobin
You won’t notice any famous names in there because this is a home grown show – although Andrew Schofield was the original Narrator in Blood Brothers. The cast and crew are made up of Liverpool natives, performing a traditional story with a scouse twist in the city’s finest theatre.
