The Rocky Horror Show, Liverpool Playhouse: December 3rd – January 4th
The Rocky Horror Show is Richard O’Brien’s B movie-inspired camp comedy horror musical. It has been a hit with fans for decades, with many even dressing up in some very… er… revealing outfits to watch it.
The show has been enjoyed by more than 35 million theatregoers since it was first performed in 1973. That’s quite a record, and you join in the club if you book for the show’s visit to the Liverpool Playhouse between the 3rd December and the 4th of January.
The cast includes 80s heartthrob, Jason Donovan, plus Leanne Campbell (Hit Radio) and Pete Price who will be well-known to Scousers.
Rocky Horror is a wild party as much as a theatre show. It follows the story of Brad and his fiancée Janet, two all-American high school sweethearts. When their car breaks down outside a creepy mansion while on their way to visit their former college professor. Enter the charismatic Dr Frank-N-Furter and other crazy characters, where fun, frolics, frocks, and frivolity ensue.
Hit songs include:
- Time Warp
- Sweet Transvestite
- Hot Patootie (Bless My Soul)
- Over at the Frankenstein’s Place
- Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch Me
Honestly, some of these are absolute bangers.
The theatre will admit anyone 12 years of age or older, but you might want to use your own judgement if you are considering taking your own children.
Ticket Prices
Depending on the performance you book and the seats you pick, tickets can be as cheap as £10! That’s a steal for a show this famous.
Of course, £10 tickets won’t have the best view, so at the other end of the scale tickets can be as expensive as £51. However, those same seats in the week (as opposed to the weekend) will cost a tenner less at £41.
The pricing structure is flexible so it’s best to check the dates you’re interested in rather than me attempting to list all the variations here, but they will be between £10 and £51 regardless.
There are accessible performances too:
- Captioned: 12th December at 7.30pm
- Audio Described: 19th December at 7.30pm
The star names will only be performing on specific dates so do check this if you are hoping to see someone in particular, but rest assured, the whole cast are experienced professionals who know how to rock and audience.
