Take Me Home County Road – Liverpool Royal Court: 31st of July to 29th of August 2026
Liverpool’s Royal Court is well known for its productions of new plays by local writers about local people. Take Me Home County Road is another of their home grown productions that fits this mould, playing from the 31st of July to the 29th of August.
The play is written by Adam McCoy, a Liverpool born actor and writer, and it is supposed to be an absolute hoot.
Here is the official blurb:
Shelly’s a County Road girl, born and bred, through and through. Once upon a time, she had it all – the looks, the talent, the fire in her belly.
But now she’s forty-something, and life’s all gone a bit… naff. Work is fine, her mates are sound, and her hubby Mick is always there when she needs him, but something’s missing.
Reports say the play is very funny, likely to have audiences laughing one minute and singing along the next, so it’s going to be a fun night at the theatre, that’s for sure.
Even the cast and director are Scousers, so come along and support local people creating something for and about people just like you.

No booking fees on this show either.
The Liverpool Royal Court offers a dining option too, which will add £10 – £20 to your ticket depending on your choice, but you get a full meal as part of that and you arrive at the venue earlier, so the experience is extended and upgraded. There is a one course option or a two course option, the latter seeing you served dessert in the interval – which might be a bit of a rush.
The show runs every night at 7:30pm from Tuesday to Saturday, and matinees take place at 1:30pm every Thursday and Saturday (no shows Monday or Sunday).
A BSL performance is available on Tuesday the 25th of August, an audio described performance is available on Wednesday the 26th of August, and captioning will be available throughout the final week of the show.
