Swan Lake: Liverpool Empire Theatre – 25th February to 1st March

You can’t beat a bit of culture, and is there anything more cultured than a night at the ballet?

Well, if you’re going to the ballet there are few better shows to watch than Swan Lake, and few better companies than New Adventures to present it.

New Adventures are bringing their touring production of Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake to the Liverpool Empire for 5 nights only, from the 25th February to the 1st of March 2025.

The company is renowned for its award-winning reimaginings of classic works as well as more contemporary pieces, with Matthew Bourne himself leading the way. It was his 1995 version of Swan Lake that made him famous, becoming the longest running dance show in the world. It was a smash hit sensation that broke all the rules, and it has only gotten better with age, now presented by a brand new company of young dancers.

Swan Lake is still the world’s most popular ballet, more than 145 years after it was first performed. Underscored by Tchaikovsky’s haunting and unforgettable score, this is a remounting of Bourne’s ground-breaking original production which won more than 30 international awards, including an Olivier and three Tony awards.

It changed the landscape of dance forever, and you can see it for yourself at the Liverpool Empire.

Tickets and Prices

Matthew Bournes Swan Lake Liverpool

There are some very cheap tickets available for this production, but you have to go on the right night and sit at the back. However, since dance is about taking in the overall spectacle, you could argue this isn’t so much of an issue.

Nevertheless, tickets can be acquired at the following price points:

  • £15.00
  • £29.50
  • £45.00
  • £59.00
  • £69.00
  • 79.00
  • £99.00

On some days the tickets in each bracket are a few pounds cheaper, but it’s negligible. There is a £3.95 transaction fee per booking too (not per ticket).

There are two matinees, on Wednesday the 27th of February and on Saturday 1st of March, with the latter also being an audio described performance for those with visual impairments. It does not impact anyone else.

All shows last 2 hours and 20 minutes including an interval.
