Sounds of the 60s Live with Tony Blackburn: Liverpool Empire – 12th November 2026
Tony Blackburn is bringing Sounds of the 60s Live to the Liverpool Empire on the 12th of November, so anyone who reckons music was better back then has an evening out sorted to prove it.
The show takes his BBC Radio 2 programme onto the stage, with a live band, singers and stories from a man who was actually there when these records first came out. You don’t need to have been around in the 60s yourself to enjoy it, obviously, if you weren’t there then you missed out – but this is the next best thing.
You will definitely know the songs.
The Sounds of the 60s All-Star Band and Singers will perform music from the likes of:
- The Beatles
- The Beach Boys
- Diana Ross & The Supremes
- Stevie Wonder
- Elvis
- The Drifters
- …and absolutely loads more
There are also fresh medleys featuring The Rolling Stones and The Walker Brothers, plus plenty of soul music. So Liverpool’s most famous musical export is well represented, but there is much more to the evening than Beatles songs.
Tony Blackburn will be hosting proceedings, and sharing stories between the music. His broadcasting career started on pirate station Radio Caroline in 1964, before he became the first voice heard on BBC Radio 1 when it launched in 1967. He has been talking about music now for more than 60 years, which should give him a fair bit of material to work with.
For anyone who knows him mainly as the first winner of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!, this is a chance to see him as he started out, surrounded by music.
Tickets and Prices
Have a watch of the video above to get a sneaky snippet of a previous performance.
There is just one Liverpool performance, taking place on Thursday the 12th of November at 7.30pm.
The running time is two hours and 50 minutes, which includes an interval, so you are getting a proper evening’s entertainment. It also gives you a break to get a drink before heading back for another dose of nostalgia.
Tickets are available in the following price bands:
- £35.36
- £43.68
- £52.00
- £74.60
The price will depend on which seats you pick, but with this being all about the music, you don’t need to be right near the front to get the most out of it.
So if your record collection (or Spotify playlist these days) contains any of the artists mentioned above, booking this one should be an easy decision.
