Mean Girls: Liverpool Empire – 19th to 31st October 2026
Mean Girls is coming to the Liverpool Empire from the 19th to the 31st of October, so dig out something pink and get ready to watch The Plastics being horrible to everyone while singing about it.
The musical is based on Tina Fey’s 2004 hit film, which follows Cady Heron as she swaps being homeschooled in Africa for an American high school. She soon discovers that teenage girls in America can be significantly more dangerous than the wildlife she grew up around in Africa.
At the top of the school food chain is Regina George, leader of The Plastics, alongside Gretchen Wieners and Karen Smith. Cady agrees to infiltrate the group and help her new friends Janis and Damian bring Regina down, but soon starts turning into a bit of a mean girl herself.
The stage version keeps the characters and comedy from the film but adds songs by Jeff Richmond and Nell Benjamin. It went down very well on Broadway, picking up 12 Tony Award nominations, before later opening in the West End.
Emily Lane will play Cady, with Vivian Panka as Regina, Sophie Pourret as Karen and Kiara Dario as Gretchen. Liverpool’s own Jennifer Ellison will also appear as Ms Heron, Ms Norbury and Mrs George.

With 16 shows available across the two week run in Liverpool, there are plenty of chances to catch the show.
Most performances begin at 7.30pm, with additional 2.30pm matinees on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There are no performances on Sundays – even Mean Girls need a rest.
Tickets for the opening night are available from £16, while tickets for the other performances start from £30. The very best seats can cost as much as £75, and there are six price bands in total with the better seats obviously costing more.
The show is directed by Casey Nicholaw, and is recommended for people aged 12 and over.
If you still quote Mean Girls whenever someone mentions October 3rd or wearing pink on a Wednesday, this one is obviously for you.
