Gaucho Liverpool – Worth All The Hype?

Gaucho Liverpool – Worth All The Hype?

Liverpool might not traditionally be thought of as one of the culinary capitals of England, with Merseyside’s only Michelin-starred restaurant having been Fraiche on the Wirral prior to its closure.

Yet if you want to get a decent bite to eat, then there are certainly plenty of decent places that you can head to, from the likes of The Art School to Indian Tiffin Room Liverpool via Vetch and Bacaro, all offering something excellent for the more hungry amongst you.

Another name on that list is Gaucho, which is part of the chain that includes the private members’ club in London.

About Gaucho Liverpool

Located just a short walk from the River Mersey in the heart of the city, is one of the best steak restaurants you could hope to visit.

Whether you want to pop somewhere for a top-class bit of lunch whilst you take a break from a daytime shopping spree or you’re looking for a place to enjoy some night-time luxury, Gaucho Liverpool is likely to be just what you’re after. It is located in what used to be a hotel once upon a time before becoming the Bank of Liverpool.

In fact, the words ‘Bank of Liverpool’ remain in place above the entrance to the restaurant, pointing to its illustrious history.

The building in which the restaurant is located is one of numerous Grade II-listed buildings in the city centre, which boasts more of them than any city other than London. It means that you are going to be sat in a genuinely stunning location whilst you sit and enjoy food that lives up to the location in which it is being served.

The building itself underwent careful reconstruction and reimagining before Gaucho opened within it, remaining in keeping with the Grade II nature of it in order to ensure that it maintains that classical and historically important feeling to life there.

A Top-Class Steak Restaurant

If you are the sort of person that enjoys eating well-cooked steaks, then the Gaucho in Liverpool is going to be the place for you. What is even more noteworthy is the fact that the Argentinian steaks served by the restaurant are carbon neutral, which will doubtless make them even more appealing to those of you for whom such things matter.

The steaks can be paired with some excellent wines, to say nothing of a selection of cocktails that will have you feeling as though you want to have a sing and a dance before you’ve even made it to the desserts selection on offer.

Depending on how you like to eat, you will almost certainly find something at Gaucho that will tick your box. The Beef Bar Experience, for example, gives you the chance to enjoy a selection of meats prepared by the restaurant’s chefs and is ideal for couples or groups.

If you are the kind of person who enjoys a Sunday lunch, then you can get along and enjoy one at Gaucho, with the beef being the obvious choice to make. Whatever the time of year is, you can bet that there will be some sort of special offer or deal on that will make the whole thing even more enjoyable for you and your party.

More than Just a Restaurant

Even if we ignore the fact that Gaucho is dog-friendly, with certain rules in place, of course, there are also other reasons why you might want to head along to the venue. It is a great place to see some live music, for example, seeing acts perform every night between Wednesday and Sunday.

The restaurant itself can take on 200 covers, with private dining also being an option if you’re the kind of person who likes to be able to secrete yourself off somewhere with a more exclusive feel to it. Then there is the excellent cocktail bar, which is open late into the night even if you haven’t eaten in the restaurant.

Perhaps more than anything else, though, the location is the ideal place to go simply to get a sense of the elegance that existed in Liverpool many moons ago. From the marble pillars that stand tall in the venue through to the fully restored ceiling that is impressive to look at in and of itself, this is somewhere that you have to visit at least once to get that feeling of the city from before Margaret Thatcher’s Tories ripped the heart out of it.

The fact that you can also enjoy a delicious steak, gorgeous cocktail or perfectly matched glass of wine whilst you’re there makes it all the more special.
