Is there is a musical more iconic than Dirty Dancing, then I am yet to find it.

The hit film starring Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze was one of the biggest movies of the 80s, and it remains a cult favourite even today. It has been reproduced many times over for the stage and even as an immersive experience, and from the 1st to the 5th of September 2026, the stage musical will be delighting audiences at the Liverpool Empire.

For anyone who doesn’t already know the story – and if that’s you, where have you been – this is it in a nutshell:

It’s the summer of 1963, and 17-year-old Baby is on a family holiday when she meets charismatic dance instructor Johnny Castle. Drawn into his thrilling world of late-night music and forbidden moves, Baby discovers love, passion and the courage to stand up for what she believes in—all set to an unforgettable soundtrack.

It’s emotional, it’s sexy, it’s romantic, and it’s had incredible reviews.

Tickets and Prices

Tickets are available from £31 in the week, and from £36 on Friday and Saturday. There are seven performances in total, with matinees and evening shows taking place on the 4th and 5th of September.

Prices increase across 5 different ticket bandings, topping out at just over £70 for the best seats in the house – and it is selling very well.
