Albert’s Schloss in Liverpool is a Cracking Venue Day or Night
Liverpool’s nightlife is such that you need to offer something interesting and different if you’re hoping to break into the market.
If you’re planning on heading to the city for a night out, you’re all but guaranteed an excellent time, thanks to the variety of bars, pubs and restaurants that you can get along to and spend some time.
Albert’s Schloss is the latest addition to that excellent night’s worth of entertainment and it is somewhere that you might well have been before. That is because it is a chain of German-themed locations, with Liverpool’s offering located on Bold Street in the city centre.
Why the Name?
Prince Albert was born in the Schloss Rosenau in Bavaria. He went on to become the love of Queen Victoria’s life, who went on to rename numerous different streets and landmarks in his honour after his untimely death. One of those locations was Albert Hall in Manchester, built in 1908.
That was reason enough for a restaurant and bar chain to name themselves after him, theming what they offered around Albert’s Bavarian roots. The man himself had a passion for the likes of art, literature and music, as well as a desire to celebrate, so that is what the places named in his honour offer.

The German word ‘Schloss’ essentially means castle, but you aren’t likely to confuse the buildings in which the bars are based for one. The Liverpool venue was once an Index, Argos and HMV, so it is a sizeable building that needed to be filled after becoming vacant, even if it isn’t a castle.
Whilst some might be disappointed that an independent retailer didn’t take over the space, the reality is that it sits amongst locations such as Tesco, Greggs and Coyote Ugly, so it isn’t as if Bold Street is at the forefront of displaying Liverpool’s independent scene. Albert’s Schloss looks to offer something a little different, which is to be applauded.
What Kind of Vibe to Expect
Given the fact that there are other Albert’s Schloss venues in Manchester, Birmingham and London, it is more than possible that you have enjoyed the experience of heading there in the past. There will be many who will dislike the very idea of it right off the bat, but you are likely to be surprised if you spend a little time there.
Even the Guardian’s food critic Jay Rayner found himself won over by the Mancunian branch, saying that the food on offer was the ‘star of the show’. You will find the ‘spirit of the Alps’ in the bar on Bold Street, offering not only food and drink but entertainment too.
Soul City Voices will be performing at Albert’s Schloss Liverpool 4.30-7pm today. Looking forward to singing with some of these lovely people. ❤️

There are big tables with fire pits in the middle, barrels that have been turned into areas on which you can put your drinks and the whole place is accessible to both wheelchair users and those that require the use of an assistance dog.
There are plenty of biers on tap, as you’d imagine, so don’t be surprised to see people walking around with steins of the stuff as they make use of the free Wi-Fi and gorge on some of the Bavarian-inspired foods. If you’re not someone to whom the idea of something created in a Munich brewery appeals, you might instead like the look of some of the excellent cocktails.
Food & Entertainment
Jay Rayner isn’t an easy man to please, as anyone who has read one of his columns will attest. If the food at Albert’s Schloss is good enough for him, albeit several years ago now, then you should absolutely consider it to be good enough for you. You can head to the Bold Street venue for breakfast, if you’re up early enough, adding a Bloody Mary to your order if you’re looking for some hair of the dog to kickstart your day.
If you’re more interested in the daytime menu, however, then you can indulge in the likes of burgers, bratwurst and schnitzels, as well as numerous other European-themed options.
One of the big appeals of the place, though, is undoubtedly the live music that is hosted on a regular basis. Albert’s Schloss welcomes bands from all over the place, with one main thing in common: they know how to put on a show. This is a place aimed firmly at the numerous different hen and stag parties that come to Liverpool looking for a decent night out and they are not let down on that front.
Live performances sit alongside music and even cabaret, so it’s always worth checking out what the Bold Street venue has got coming up. If you can head there for Oktoberfest then you’re in for a partying treat.
