Aintree Racecourse Tours: 27th – 30th November

Racing fans won’t want to miss this one.
Get amongst the action at Aintree racecourse, the home of the most famous horse race in the world: The Grand National.
The beloved course is running 4 days of behind the scenes tours this year, starting on the 27th of November and ending on the 30th. Anyone who buys a ticket will be able to see over 2,000 original artifacts from the course’s past, and with almost 200 years worth of history there is bound to be some fascinating stuff in there.
Stops on the tour will include Red Rum’s grave, various statues of legendary horses, and the course itself, plus access to parts of the venue you wouldn’t usually be able to see.
You won’t be on your own either, this is a guided tour and there is no one better suited to take you round the venue than Jane Clarke.
Jane is the official historian of Aintree Racecourse, she has been attending since 1973 and has worked as the curator of Aintree Museum since 1997. She is also a veteran tour guide as well as a collector of memorabilia and archived materials in a personal capacity. She has more stories about Aintree than anyone else in the world, so she is uniquely positioned to tell the human side of what goes on there and how things have changed over the years.
Tickets cost £25 per person (under 2s go free) and that includes tea, coffee, and a sweet treat – so cake, probably.
There are two tours on each of the four days, one starting at 10am and the other at 1pm. The tour lasts about 90 minutes with refreshments served at the end.
