1986 Double Winners: An Evening with Kenny Dalglish & Ian Rush – M&S Bank Arena, 10th May 2026

Liverpool FC legends Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush are reunited in the city that made them famous, for an unforgettable evening discussing the historic 1986 Double.

Brought to you by The Red Weekender, An Evening with Kenny Dalglish & Ian Rush takes place on the 10th of May in the auditorium at M&S Bank Arena. It is sure to be a sell out crowd, so if you are a Reds fan, don’t delay. Chances like this don’t come along very often.

This is not just a dry Q and A, it’s far more than that. The event will feature:

  • On-stage conversation with Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush
  • Hosted by Clive Tyldesley, the much loved commentator
  • Special guest panel including Sammy Lee, Steve McMahon, Gary Gillespie and others
  • Stories, insights, and behind-the-scenes moments from the 1985/86 Double winning season
  • Celebration of the first all-Merseyside FA Cup Final (Liverpool vs Everton, 1986)

The 1985/86 campaign may have been 40 years ago, but anyone who was around to experience it will never forget it. Liverpool had a great start to the season, a shaky mid-season, then a real surge at the end going 12 games unbeaten an winning 11 of them. They beat local rivals Everton to the top spot by 2 points.

They also came from behind the Toffees again in the FA Cup final, going 0-1 down after a Gary Lineker goal in the 27th minute, before going on to win 3-1.

They became only the 5th team in English football to win the double.
